2022 VHP Scholarships

1st Place - Jacklyn Russek
Since joining VHP six years ago as a 7th grader, Jaclyn Russek has interviewed nine veterans. In addition to her commitment to VHP, she participated in multiple honors societies and clubs such as Student Council, DECA, drama, and yearbook. Jaclyn is passionate about writing and flying—she earned her private pilot’s license in March! This year she will attend Northern Arizona University and study English with an emphasis on creative writing.

2nd Place - Alyssa Wood
A four-year member of VHP, Alyssa Wood exhibited leadership as VHP Chapter President at Notre Dame Preparatory High School during her junior and senior years. She founded a history honor society at her school in addition to holding leadership positions in Tri-M Music Honor Society and student council. She now begins her journey at the University of Arizona, where she will double major in history and education. She aims to become a teacher and have her own school one day.

3rd Place - Hailey Bushey
Hailey Bushey is a recent graduate of Notre Dame Preparatory High School, where she belonged to VHP for three years and served as Chapter Vice President. Previously, she was the Chapter’s secretary, and was part of the student planning committee for the 2021 Honor Roll event. She is excited to attend the University of Arizona and major in communication as a member of the W.A. Franke Honors College. Hailey is a globally-minded student who hopes to study abroad.

Above and Beyond - Caitlin Campos
During Caitlin Campo’s four years in VHP at Shadow Mountain High School, she interviewed fi ve veterans and served as Vice President and President.
Furthermore, she was Lead Student Editor of Edition II of Since You Asked XVIII. She will attend University of Arizona and pursue a degree in business administration and entrepreneurial studies. Caitlin already has her own small business and her future career goals are to become a young adult author and publishing firm business manager.

Named Scholarships

Jennifer Caitlin Campbell Memorial Travel Scholarship
Caitlin Schroeder is the VHP Chapter President at Arizona Agribusiness and Equine Center, Prescott Valley. She is also a member of the National Honor Society and is secretary of 4-H. Currently a junior, she plans to graduate high school with her associate degree. After graduation she intends to obtain a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, work for the FBI, and eventually become a special agent.

Lambert Family Scholarship Fund
Lauren Anderson interviewed seven veterans during her five years with VHP. During her junior and senior years of high school, she was VHP Chapter Vice President at Cactus Shadows, as well as the Lead Student Editor of Edition I of Since You Asked. She also was Vice President of Chinese Club. Lauren is now a sophomore at Northern Arizona University, thriving in the Honors Program and on track with a psychological sciences major and a Chinese language minor.

Lambert Family Scholarship Fund
A three-year member of VHP at Ironwood Ridge High School, Kayleigh Rice was Chapter Vice President and helped organize the school’s Veterans Day assembly and book signings. Additionally, she was a member of National Honor Society, offi cer in Student Government, Vice President of American Sign Language Club, and co-captain of the color guard. Kayleigh is thrilled to attend Northern Arizona University and study civil engineering.
