2025 Scholarship Recipients

Sydney Moore
1st Place - $3,500
Sydney Moore is the president of the Cactus Shadows High School chapter and provides leadership to students in editing, layout, and publishing veterans’ service stories for Edition I of Since You Asked.® In her three years of participating, she interviewed a Gold Star Family and 11 veterans, including Korean War POW Cecil Phipps. Sydney handles each story with care and is grateful for the unique lessons learned from each interview. She plans to study culinary science or hotel and restaurant management. Her goal is to become a chef and business owner.
Avah Montgomery
2nd Place - $3,000
Avah Montgomery is the president of her chapter and participated in Imprints of Honor at Shea Middle School and Shadow Mountain High School for a total of five years. She interviewed seven veterans, including her grandfather and uncle. In addition to conducting her own interviews, she assisted fellow chapter members with their interviews and stories. She also participated in the publishing process all four years of high school. She plans to study biology on a pre-med track to become an OB/GYN. She wishes to work at a health center to support underserved communities.
Sophia Hofmeiser
3rd Place - $2,000
Sophia Hofmeister participated in Imprints of Honor for three years and interviewed three veterans. Though she was intimidated at the start of her first interview, she knew she had done well when her Navy SEAL veteran presented her with a special challenge coin. She is proud of the personal connections she has forged with her veterans, and each of them has shared with her how beneficial it was to tell their story. Sophia is excited to begin her college journey and major in biology on the pre-med track to become a doctor in the future.
Rob Matthews IV
Above and Beyond - $3,000
Rob Matthews IV joined Imprints of Honor as a freshman and interviewed four veterans. One of his veterans, centenarian COL (Ret.) Bill Pruitt, served as a World War II Merchant Mariner, and excerpts from the story were included in the American Merchant Marine Veterans News Magazine. Rob has always been a history enthusiast and participates in World War II reenactments. Last year he traveled to Normandy for the 80th anniversary of D-Day, meeting more World War II veterans and telling them about his participation in Imprints of Honor. In college, he plans to study mechanical engineering with a focus in aerospace engineering.

Named Scholarships

Rijul Gupta
Jennifer Caitlin Campbell Memorial Travel Scholarship - $2,500
Rijul Gupta is a sophomore who has completed two veteran interviews and assisted with publishing layout. She will use the travel scholarship to go to Washington, D.C. Growing up in India, she learned of Gandhi’s leadership in securing independence through nonviolence and was inspired by how his philosophy influenced Dr. King and the Civil Rights Movement in the United States. This trip will allow her to see monuments dedicated to unity and justice, connecting her cultural identity with her aspirations as a global citizen.
Jack Fox
Boeggeman/Jones Civic Engagement Scholarship - $2,500
Jack Fox is the vice president of his chapter. For the past seven years, he has volunteered as a sailing instructor and spent three seasons as an assistant flag football coach. Through Interact Club, he has participated in food drives, fundraisers, environmental cleanups, and surf events for disabled individuals. He has also volunteered for Dining with Dignity, helping to prepare and serve hot meals to homeless community members. He plans to attend the United States Air Force Academy and major in Business Administration and Management/Economics. His goal is to pursue a career in aviation or special operations as an officer in the United States Air Force.

Jordan Mills Gold Star Family Scholarship - $1,000
Sydney Moore interviewed Gold Star Parents Curtis and Patricia Hinds about their son LCpl Justin Hinds for Since You Asked® XX. She shared, “The selflessness and sacrifice Justin showed throughout his life is something I hope to incorporate into mine. His story changed the way I look at others and has made me think harder about what I can do to better the community around me. Patricia and Curtis have made me grow stronger in my faith and ability to find the light even when everything is surrounded by darkness.”
Austin Stasik
Lambert Family Fund Scholarship- $17,500/year
Austin Stasik is a computer systems engineering major with a focus in cybersecurity at Arizona State University. He first participated in Imprints of Honor at Sonoran Trails Middle School, then emerged as a leader in the Cactus Shadows High School chapter. He helped publish three volumes of Since You Asked® and was the lead student editor. After graduating high school, he conducted an interview as an alumni student and enrolled in the Imprints of Honor class at ASU, becoming a mentor for fellow students. To date, Austin has completed seven veteran interviews and spoken at community events to share the impact of Imprints of Honor.

Copper Lamp of Knowledge Scholarships - $2,500

The Arizona Veterans Hall of Fame Society (AVHOFS) provides three scholarships each year to students who have maintained an excellent scholastic standing, demonstrate qualities of leadership and good moral character, and are active participants of Imprints of Honor.
